About Gosh

Hello there! My friends tend to call me Gos(h), which came from my family name. When I was in high school, some people told me that I was going to die young. Then at the age of 27, another person said that I wouldn’t have a lifelong. However, I am still alive with a blessing. I have taught extensively English, Indonesian, and Malay from 2006 to the present time. I currently train Bahasa Indonesia for foreigners and teach English to Indonesians in Jakarta. I grew up in a multilingual environment, which has made me learn new languages quickly. Teaching, coaching, writing, and traveling are ways to pass on the value of my life.

My passion is to see people fulfill their dreams through traveling and teaching, especially when it comes to teaching languages. Together with a youth community, since 2003, I have been engaged in a youth movement to serve schools, universities, workers, slums, unreached societies, and forgotten and broken people to develop the young generation into better ones and to do the will of God in my age.

THE JOURNEY

I used to write about random things that came into my mind. It usually followed casual conversations or situations I had experienced. My inspiration derives from people’s surroundings and everything around that seizes a meaningful peak of passion. Since a young age, I have moved about across the country, but I don’t remember much as I was still young. I had to follow my parents to different places, and in the past few years, I have had the privilege of going to many different places. It is my delight to meet so many people around the globe by experience new cultures.

It was a couple of years ago when I was traveling Southeast Asia alone. I was trapped inside the KL train station because I did not know that they had a closing time. I needed to run with other people to escape security. Just because I did not get my train back to Thailand at that time. The second time was in Singapore , I lost my belongings and had to survive in Singapore without much money. Lucky me, Changi airport was conducive. I got a few Singaporean friends who help me get the airplane ticket, willingly. Of course, before that, I had to survive for 2 weeks. I slept in the airport and waited for cheap food at the closing time of the food court. Fortunately, God is always good, I survived.

I barely made unforgettable experiences, which made me think of helping other people who did the same. How to overcome those fears, bravely conquer the new place, or just some small tips about some cool places.

BWAMGOSH

BWAMgosh is abbreviated from Backpacker with a mission – gosh. BWAMGOSH is a blog about a person who was bold enough to go to different countries and meet new people. Some personal posts often reflect on my past, my identity, and musings from every journey. But for sure, all the stories have one thing in common: everything has something to learn even.

I do not know if I could say it is a travel blog, but it provides easy-to-read information from all the places I have been along with my story. If you find some posts which are a bit different from it, that is probably my musings which I got from my life and travel experiences.

My mission is to encourage you to become an independent traveler with way-outs of zero fear and absolute bravery. Because I believe everyone was born to be an independent traveler. I hope that it can be your go-to place to find the information you need to plan your next trip. Also, to inspire you to go out and see the world and help you have a smooth and exciting adventure.

BWAMTRIP

The need to challenge me has taken me to new and diverse levels. It also reminds me that there is more to life than money and possessions. There are also life, love, friendship, nature, and community. I hope to inspire, motivate, and get you excited about traveling through my stories. Not only that, but I also want to help you plan the perfect trip by giving you my personal opinions and best tips on how to have an exciting, adventurous, and authentic experience. I love to help people out with their travel problems, such as getting lost and trip-survival.

In 2015, I got my own startup called BWAMTRIP off the ground, a trip organizer that arranges groups of people go wandering through places, staying together in a roof of the guesthouse but set themselves free to decide where to go. It has missions to meet people and share their dreams.
